Relay for Life set for Friday

The 2012 Relay for Life of Madison County will be held Friday, May 4, beginning at 6 p.m. at the Madison County Recreation Department.

“This year’s event will include a full program of entertainment, events, food, fun and friendship as we celebrate, remember and fight back against cancer,” officials said. “Everyone is invited to come join the fun.”

There will be many different kinds of food for sale along with T-shirts, games, music and fun. Organizers say come visit with your neighbors, get to know the community and help defeat cancer.

“All proceeds raised go directly to support cancer research and cancer patient care here in our local community through the American Cancer Society,” officials said.

Here is an agenda of the night’s events:

•6–7 p.m. Survivor registration and hospitality area open.

•6 p.m. – Entertainment begins with emcee Kevin Cheek and Relay co-chairs Ramona Booth and Clay Nix. The National Anthem will be sung by Tommy Hall. The honorary chair is Dr. Allen McCannon. The survivor lap, caregiver lap and team lap will be walked.

•7:30 p.m. – SonRise Trio (Gospel)

•8:15 p.m. – The Welfare Liners (Folk)

•9:05 p.m. – India McElroy (vocalist, MCHS student)

•9:30 p.m. – Luminary service

•10 p.m. – Holman Autry Band (Southern Rock)

•12:15 a.m. – Wildcat Bridge (country)

•2 a.m. – Karaoke, games, dance party.
