Man charged with 11 counts of entering auto
An Athens man was charged with 11 counts of entering auto and a single count of being “party to a crime” last week stemming from a number of car break-ins last year.
Blake Preston Coulter, 24, 2818 Barnett Shoals Road, was allegedly involved in entering vehicles in Mason Mill Subdivision north of Danielsville in June, where wallets, guns, musical instruments, money, a camera and other items were taken from the vehicles. He was also charged with stealing a purse out of a vehicle in Spratlin Pointe Place in December 2011.
In another arrest, two people were taken into custody on drug charges last week after Madison County sheriff’s deputies went to a Ferndale Court residence to serve a bench warrant on one of the suspects for deposit account fraud.
In addition to deposit account fraud, Crystal Lee Roberts, 43, 150 Three Rivers Court, Hull, was charged with possession of a Schedule II controlled substance and possession and use of drug-related objects.
Also arrested at the scene was, Charlie Darrell Weatherford, 40, 136 Ferndale Court, Hull, who was charged with possession of methamphetamine, possession of a firearm or knife during the commission or attempt to commit certain felonies and possession and use of drug-related objects. A third person at the scene was not charged.
According to the incident report, officer William Elrod and two other officers arrived to serve the warrant on Ms. Roberts. Once inside, they encountered an odor that made their eyes water, so they talked with Weatherford outside on the porch. Weatherford and the others told them the odor was sewage backing up into the home. When Weatherford sat down, Elrod noticed a lump in his pocket. Elrod searched him for officer safety and discovered a clear baggie with suspected methamphetamine in that pocket and a loaded pistol in the other pocket. A search warrant was obtained and more methamphetamine along with drug paraphernalia was found inside the residence.
When Weatherford returned home from jail the next day, he reported that his truck had been stolen and his home burglarized with some tools missing.
