Colbert man charged with aggravated assault
A Colbert man was arrested following an altercation on Kellogg Drive.
Kenneth James Lee, 51, 54 West Kellogg Drive, was charged with one count of aggravated assault after he allegedly struck another man with a rock as the man rode by on his motorcycle.
According to the incident report, officer Andrew Wilkes was called to the scene with EMS to investigate someone with a facial injury. Wilkes met with seven white males who told him they have an ongoing problem with another man who lives in the neighborhood. They said that earlier that day they were riding their dirt bikes on their own property when this man got mad and discharged a firearm on his property and then “cut doughnuts” on the roadside and attempted to run one of the men down on his motorcycle. As he drove back by, Lee admitted that he struck him in the forehead with a rock. After speaking with the victim, Lee was arrested and taken to jail.
In another incident, one person was arrested after officers were called to a domestic dispute involving multiple people on Colbert-Danielsville Road.
Paul Ballenger, Jr., 49, 1957 Colbert-Danielsville Road, Danielsville, was charged with obstruction of officers after he failed to comply with deputies on scene and resisting arrest.
Other incidents on file at the sheriff’s office last week included:
•Terroristic threats and acts were reported by a woman on Hwy. 29 South. She said that her husband told her he would kill her if “she moved the bus,” which is a vehicle they currently live in. This was the fifth time in two days officers had been summoned to a domestic dispute involving the couple, according to the incident report.
•Child molestation was reported on Peachtree Street last week after a Madison County investigator was called to Harmony House Advocacy Center due to a report from the Northern Circuit Juvenile Court.
•Child molestation was reported on Hwy. 72 West.
•A man on Foote McClellan Road reported that two men with whom he has had an ongoing problem came to his shop and began cursing and making threats towards him. He said he walked away from them when he heard a gunshot and ran into the shop. He said the two men “spun tires” and left the scene. Two other people at the shop also said they heard what they believed to be a gunshot.
•An a/c unit was stolen from a vacant home on Moon’s Grove Road.
•A woman on Transco Road reported her 16-year old daughter missing.
•A man on Creekwood Drive reported that a woman he has been dating took $420 in cash and an iPhone from his bedroom the previous night. He said she became angry at him when she saw him texting another girl. He said she had left, but right before the officer arrived, she allegedly rode by his residence “cussing at him and waving a knife.”
•A man on Pine Valley Farm Road said that a woman he was arguing with scratched him on the neck. He said the two were arguing because she wanted him to steal some items from another person.
•A mule had to be put down by a deputy after an accident with a vehicle on Hwy. 72 East at its intersection with North Street.
•A man in Diamond Hill Mobile Home Park reported that another man pointed a silver pistol at him during an argument over some impact wrenches he was supposed to purchase from the man for $40.
•A woman on Hillwood Drive said another woman she knows came to her house, drunk and high on prescription medication and began accusing her of stealing money from her. The two then got into a shoving match and the drunk woman scratched her face and struck her in the stomach with her knee. She told officer Justin Hanley that she is 13-weeks pregnant. Hanley explained the warrant process to the victim. Later that day, Hanley was sent back to the residence, where a man there told him his girlfriend (the victim in the previous incident) had slapped him during an argument in which she accused him of having sex with another woman. The man had no visible signs of injury and the woman was gone when Hanley arrived. He was also told about the warrant process.
•A couple on Country Lane reported that someone stole a purse from their kitchen table. Later that day, the couple reported that some of the items had been returned. Officer Klint Segars met with a neighbor, who said his grandsons had been involved with the theft.
•A woman on Fowler Freeman Lane reported that her Valium and Lortabs were missing following an overnight visit by her granddaughter. Officer Brandon Moss went to Transco Road to speak with the child’s mother, who said she did not know if her daughter had taken the medication, but that she would not put it past her.
•Theft by shoplifting was reported at the Dollar General on Glenn Carrie Road. The assistant manager said a white female left the store with an ice cream without paying for it. She provided the tag number of the woman’s vehicle.
•A heat pump/ac unit was reportedly stolen from Jot-Em-Down Road.
•A Chevrolet S-10 blazer was reportedly stolen from near some chicken houses on Parham Town Road last week. Officer Greg Bryson first went to the area regarding a reported of a suspicious person. A woman told him that she came out of her residence earlier and saw a white male standing beside her vehicle. She said the man told her he had been lost in the woods all night and needed some water. She said she told him to stand right there and she would get him some water. She sat a jug of water on the steps and locked the door. She said she watched him walk to the end of her driveway and then saw a small SUV drive away. She said the man did not appear to have been in the woods all night. While they were talking, a man drove up on a tractor and said another working with him on chicken houses next door had had his Blazer stolen. The owner of the SUV said he had seen a man matching the woman’s description walking down the road earlier as he left to go spread chicken litter nearby. He said he was gone for approximately 20 minutes and that his vehicle was gone when he returned.
•A woman on Buddy Moore Road called 9-1-1 after an altercation with her sister at her mother’s residence. She said her sister had come to their mother’s residence after being asked not to come when their mother was not there. She said when she told her sister to leave, she began cursing her and screaming at her. She then reportedly picked up an ax and began chasing her, saying “I’m going to kill you.” At that point, the woman left the residence and called 9-1-1. She was advised of the warrant and TPO process against her sister.
•A man on East Eighth Avenue reported that someone stole two gas tanks from behind his residence. He said the tanks came off a tractor and were 125-gallon tanks. He said they were in the bed of a truck and were not visible from the road.
•A woman on Belhaven Lane reported that she had $700 missing from her home, along with some video games. She said there was nothing else missing from her residence and that someone had entered through a rear window.
•Simple battery was reported on Hwy. 29 South. A man there said his neighbor came over to “start trouble” and that they got into an argument over some text messages he and the neighbor’s girlfriend had been sending to each other. He said the neighbor began swinging at him but he backed away. The neighbor was back at his residence next door and he told officer Justin Hanley that they were all in fact at his house cooking out when the complainant began acting inappropriately towards his girlfriend. A short fight ensued and the complainant went home. The girlfriend gave the same story.
Later that day, officer Hanley was called back to the scene, where one of the same men and two other neighbors got into a fight over some ribs.

•A woman reported “smoke coming from the eaves of her roof” on Beck Road in Hull. Hull, Ila and Neese fire departments responded.
•A car fire was reported on Hwy. 106 at Miss Jeanelles Too Daycare.
