Colbert man charged with battery
A Colbert man was arrested on multiple child cruelty charges after he allegedly struck his wife in the face and then barricaded himself in the bedroom with their children.
Billy Dean Vickers, 31, 256 Madison Boulevard, was charged with battery, obstruction, cruelty to children and three counts of cruelty to children in the third degree.
According to the incident report, officer Andrew Wilkes was dispatched to Madison Boulevard in Colbert where he met with Vickers’ wife, who was at a neighbor’s home. She told Wilkes that her husband came in intoxicated and began hitting her in the face and then threatened to do the same thing to their daughter. She said she then ran next door to call 9-1-1. She said the children were still inside the residence and that she was afraid Vickers would hurt them. Wilkes and another officer went to the couple’s residence and knocked on the door, announcing themselves as “sheriff’s office” with no response. They decided to force their way in, where they found Vickers barricaded in the bedroom with the door locked. He refused to come out, so officers forced their way in and he was taken into custody.

•Robert Lee Hall, 64, 37 Chandler Ray Road, Hull, was charged with aggravated assault after he allegedly struck his wife in the head with a wooden picket after she asked him for some money. Police found him under a shed beside the house. The victim’s daughter corroborated her story.
•Eric Stacy Adams, 44, 580 Chandler Bridge Road, Nicholson, DUI/drugs, marijuana possession less than an ounce, driving while license suspended or revoked, open container and obscured or missing license plate.
•Timothy Elton Anderson, 44, 640 Jack Sharpe Road, Colbert, criminal damage to property and obstruction.
•Debra Jean Barber, 56, 150 Apt. A Herman Street, Athens, probation violation.

•Kevin Hugh Massey, 39, 401 Hillwood Drive, Danielsville, was arrested for pedestrian under the influence of alcohol or drugs after neighbors called to report he was being disorderly and fighting.
