Resurfacing projects ahead in Madison Co.

The Georgia Department of Transportation recently announced that it has awarded bids to contractors to repave several miles in Madison County.

Pittman Construction Company, Conyers, was awarded the bid for $488,639 with a completion date of Dec. 31, 2012.

The resurfacing projects in unincorporated Madison County total 7.61 miles and include the following:

•2.96 miles of Friendship Church Road, from S.R. 98 to S.R. 174

•1.45 miles of Helican Springs Road, from Sanford Road to the county line

•1.0 miles of J. Davis Road, from Booger Hill Road to Hammond Williams Road

•2.2 miles of Foote McClellan Road, from S.R. 72 to Spratlin Mill Road

The following road in Colbert will be resurfaced:

•0.175 miles of 4th Street North, beginning 325 feet north of S.R. 72 to Project Street

The following road in Ila will be resurfaced:

•0.095 miles of Locust Street, from S.R. 106 to Lord Street

The resurfacing projects are Local Maintenance and Improvement Grant (LMIG) work, according to the DOT.
