Woman calls husband, boyfriend to pick her up
Disorderly conduct and criminal trespass were reported on Diamond Hill – Neese Road last week.
A woman there said a woman she knows was at her house waiting on a ride. The woman’s husband came to pick her up, but so did the woman’s boyfriend. When the boyfriend showed up, the husband left out of the driveway spinning the tires on his car and leaving his wife behind. The homeowner said her kids were outside and that the husband’s car came very close to them when he spun out of the driveway. Another man there said the gravel struck his truck causing two small dents in the bed area.
The boyfriend also left before officers arrived, leaving the woman behind, who, according to the report, was very intoxicated. She reportedly told officer Justin Hanley that “all she wanted was a ride and that she didn’t know it was going to start all this trouble.” Per the homeowner’s request, Hanley gave the woman a criminal trespass warning for the residence and a ride to her mother’s house on Willis Glenn Road. The homeowner was advised of the warrant process for the husband.
In another incident, shoplifting was reported at Ingles after a man allegedly stole five packs of ribs by stuffing them in his pants.
According to the incident report, the suspect is a black male who was wearing a tan shirt with colorful writing and blue jeans. An employee of the store said she saw the man in the meat section looking around and then saw him run out the front door “with his pants legs squared.” She said she walked to the suspect’s car and asked him if he was going to pay for the ribs. She said he just looked at her and then drove off toward Clarke County.
Other incidents on file at the sheriff’s office included:
•A woman on Hwy. 29 South reported that her juvenile daughter had been gone from the residence all night and that she had received phone calls from her wanting her to buy beer for her. The daughter then came home to get her phone charger and began slamming doors and her mother said she told her she could not leave again because she was being punished. The girl then reportedly let the dog out of the house and went to get in a car with her friends. The mother followed her, opened the car door and ordered her daughter to get out. The girl got out and began pulling her mother’s hair, forcing her to the ground, hitting her in the face. The girl was turned over to her uncle’s custody by order of juvenile justice and a juvenile complaint was completed.
•A couple on Kingston Road reported that a juvenile who lives in their neighborhood stole some of the woman’s bras and panties. The couple said they were informed of the theft by the boy’s mother, who found the items in her son’s room. She also reported that the boy has stolen some of their Playstation games from them in the past. Officer Justin Hanley spoke with the boy in his father’s presence and asked him why he did it. The boy said he just “didn’t think sometimes.” His father said there have been other incidents like this in the past and that it is becoming an ongoing problem. A report was filed with the Department of Juvenile Justice.
•A man kayaking at the Broad River Outpost reported that someone broke into his girlfriend’s mother’s vehicle while they were gone. He said his wallet and cellphone were stolen.
•A Hull fireman reported that a fire at a duplex on Woodale Street appeared to be arson. Officer Wesley Bryant went to the scene where he observed burnt cardboard at what appeared to be the starting point of the fire. The fire marshal was called.
•Battery was reported on Crawford W. Long Street after a passerby called 9-1-1 to report a possible domestic dispute. The caller said she thought she saw a man and a woman fighting each other. Officer Alan Stratton went to the residence where he observed a woman that appeared to be crying leaving the residence. He stopped her and saw that she had a small cut on her upper lip. She said she and her boyfriend got into a fight over him being gone in her vehicle for over four hours. She said they wrestled but that he did not hit her with a closed fist. Her boyfriend said he arrived home after taking his child to a doctor’s appointment and she became irate that it took him longer than she expected. He said she ripped his shirt off and then bit his finger and he told her to leave. The couple both agreed they did not want to press charges and said they are ending their relationship.
•A woman on Jot-Em-Down Road reported that her dog was killed by a neighbor’s dogs. Officer Justin Hanley observed a miniature Dachshund lying in the driveway in a pool of blood. A witness said she saw a large white dog and a smaller brown dog coming from the driveway and that she believed these dogs killed the other dog. The witness said she believed the dogs belonged next door. Hanley went next door where the dogs were located. The woman there said the dogs were not hers but come to her house a good bit and she feeds them sometimes because they appear underfed. She said they belonged to another set of people a couple of houses down. Hanley then went to this residence where a babysitter told him the dogs did belong at that residence but that the owner was at work. Animal control officer Jack Huff was to follow up the next day with the owner.
•A man at Danny’s Auto Repair on Hwy. 72 West reported that someone stole his 2002 Kia Sportage overnight. He said the keys were left in the vehicle.
•A woman on Reese Lane reported that she was receiving harassing phone calls from her sister because of an ongoing argument between them over her making her nephew move out of the house. The woman showed officer Jeff Vaughn several text messages from the sister that stated that she was going to call DFCS to report her for cruelty to children. Vaughn noted that the children at the residence seemed “very happy and well taken care of.” She was told to save the messages if she were going to pursue charges. She was also explained the warrant process.
•Criminal damage to property was reported on Planter Gunnell Road after a passerby noticed a green car on the side of the road with its windows busted out. The owner was located and came to scene where she told officer Wesley Bryant she had left the car there about 6 p.m. because it was starting to overheat and had thought that it would be fine. She said there was no damage to the car when she left it.
