Man arrested after threatening stepdad with knife

Steve Justin Griffith, Jr., 22, 1213 Hwy. 98 West, was charged with one count of terroristic threats and acts. According to the incident report, officer Joshua Smith went to the residence where he found the man’s mother and stepfather on the front porch.

The stepfather told him that Griffith came home earlier and began slamming doors, got a knife and told him “I will kill you m(*&%$ f_+&*).” The stepfather said he grabbed a frying pan in order to defend himself. The mother said her son came home and began slamming doors and cursing at her and that he grabbed a knife when his stepfather got on to him about cursing at her. Griffith told Smith that he was angry at this stepfather because a friend told him he had been spreading rumors about him. He admitted that he got a knife out of his truck and that he did make the threatening statement. He told Smith where to find the knife, which was taken into evidence.

In another incident, two people were arrested after someone reported a suspicious vehicle parked at a vacant home on Swamp Guinea Road.

Alejandro Galindez, 27, 1495 Hwy. 29 North, Lot M11, Athens, was charged with loitering, while a passenger in his vehicle, Carrie Elizabeth Kasper, 21, of 1124 Wages Bridge Road, Nicholson, was charged with possession of a Schedule II controlled substance and loitering.

•Terry Lamar Bradford, 38, 287 Chesterton Drive, Athens, DUI/alcohol and violating restriction of driver’s license. (GSP)

•Ellen Elizabeth B. Brown, 46, 835 Oconee Street, Athens, theft by receiving stolen property.

•John Chevalieralvarez, 37, 1465 Hwy. 29 North, Lot 112, Athens, driving without a valid license.

•Benny Reginald Clark 37, 491 Earnert Oliver Drive, Hartwell, giving false name, address or birthdate to law enforcement officer.

•Diana Starr Coile, 31, 21 Sherwood Circle, Danielsville, marijuana possession less than an ounce.

•Bryan Dale Cromer, 37, 498 Webbs Creek Road, Commerce, driving while license suspended or revoked, acquiring a license plate for the purpose of concealing identification of motor vehicle and weaving over roadway.

•Henry Tyrone Eberhart, 38, 121 Fox Trail, Athens, speeding and DUI/alcohol. (GSP)
