Couple arrested for battery, cruelty to children

James Richard Crossgrove, 65, and Kathryn Ruth Titus, 57, both of 1296 Old Elberton Road, Hull, were each charged with simple battery FVA and two counts of cruelty to children in the third degree.

According to the incident report, officer Brandon Moss was dispatched to the scene, where Titus told him that she and her friend, Crossgrove, had been arguing about money and that he choked her. Moss noted that she did have some redness around her neck. Crossgrove had some scratches on his forehead, his right hand was bleeding and his glasses were broken. He said they were arguing and she began hitting him and he grabbed her to try to get her to stop. Titus’s grandchildren were in the house crying, and the little girl reportedly told Moss the man was choking their grandmother and she was hitting him in the head and they were frightened. The children’s mother was called to come pick them up and Titus and Crossgrove were taken to jail.

•Ernesto Chaves Merando, 36, Pinewood South, Lot 37, Watkinsville, improper backing, DUI/alcohol, driving without a valid license, fleeing or attempting to elude a police officer, no tag and removing or affixing license plate with intent to conceal or misrepresent.

•Tiesha Qualla Mitchell, 21, 84 Eugene Hardman Road, Danielsville, possession of a Schedule II controlled substance.

•Daniven Bernard Parks, 23, 197 Will Hunter Road, Athens, bench warrant.
