Twenty-two year old Killian Ward, of Colbert, died at Athens Regional Medical Center from his injuries.
According to the Georgia State Patrol, a 1988 GMC truck struck Ward around 8 a.m. Wednesday, June 20, as he walked eastbound near the fog line. The driver of the truck was not injured. The wreck remains under investigation by the Georgia State Patrol and charges could be pending.
Ward was the son of Michael “Mike” Joseph and Karla Denise Merritt Ward of Colbert. He attended Colbert Elementary, MCMS and MCHS. He was a carpenter employed by Guaranteed Installation and was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt and fish.
A memorial fund has been established at First Citizens Bank in his name, Killian Dane Merritt Ward, and contributions may be made or sent to any branch.
This is such a tragic story and one that seems to be way to familiar these days . He will be sorely missed and may those who knew him find peace in their hearts . Go fourth into a better place then you leave behind and grieve no more with the sorrows and worries of this world. We will see you on the other side brother.
