A Danielsville man who proclaimed “running from the law was in his blood” was arrested last week after someone called 9-1-1 to report that he was at their door trying to get inside their home.
Ricky James Ramsey, 36, 527 Cowart Toole Road, was charged with obstruction, possession of methamphetamine and criminal trespass. The victim told officers Ramsey ran off toward the woods when officers arrived. They found him lying down behind some bushes about 40 yards into the woods. A flashlight, overalls and a metal container were found with him. As he was being taken back to the patrol car, he reportedly told officer Brandon Hanley that “running from the law was in his blood.” An off-white residue that tested positive for methamphetamine was located inside the metal container.

oA concerned neighbor called in a fight between two men on West Second Avenue last week. Officer Brandon Hanley found a man there with a golf club in one hand and a wooden object in another hand. The other party had a laceration on his arm and a contusion to his head. The pair, who both were intoxicated, said they had begun arguing about things from their past. Both declined to press charges.
oA couple on Piedmont Road allegedly got into a physical altercation in front of one of their two children last week. The woman stated her boyfriend had been drinking when he pushed her down on the couch and hit her on the side of the head. She said this was not the first time and that she had taken out a TPO on him last year. About 15 minutes later, the woman called back to say that the man took her vehicle and sped away, screaming and cussing at her. He and the vehicle were found at his parents' home on Pope Miller Road. He was not arrested for taking the vehicle because his girlfriend said she lets him drive it. She was allowed to come get the vehicle and the man was released to his parents.
oA man on Diamond Hill - Colbert Road reported that a 1958 Chevy pick up, a golf cart and a gas grill were missing from his vacant property.
oA woman on Cowart Toole Road reported that a man who had just gotten out of jail that day came to her residence and asked her for money. She told him she didn't have any money; he then asked for some ice and she gave him some. He became irate and went around her house where he stabbed her heat pump with a pocket knife. He ran off before deputies arrived.
oA man on Pleasant Acres Farm Road reported that someone took his cell phone from the center console of his vehicle as it was parked in his yard.
oHarassing phone calls were reported on AC Carey Road last week when a woman said another woman named “Tina” called her repeatedly from an Elberton phone number, at one point asking for her husband. Officer Shawn Rhoades called the number and was told there was no Tina there. He told the woman who answered that a report for harassing phone calls from that number was being filed.
oBurglary was reported on Helican Springs Road last week after a man there reported that three dirt bikes and two four-wheelers were stolen from his locked outbuilding.
oTwo four wheelers were reportedly stolen from Della Slaton Road last week.
oA woman on Peach Orchard Road reported that a bag containing eye drops, arthritis cream and magazines were missing from her home. She named a suspect.
oCriminal trespass was reported on Grady Drive last week after a man said someone had spray painted several places on his residence. He stated that though he had no suspects in mind, teenagers walk up and down the road at all hours of the night.
oA woman reported that someone allegedly took her medication and $10 from her purse while she was in the restroom at Hardees in Danielsville.
oParts of an a/c unit were stolen from a home for sale on Fox Trail last week.
oA man reported that a man he is involved in a civil case with threatened him at the Chief Burger on Hwy. 72 in Comer. The other man denied that he had threatened him and said that he was the one being harassed.
oTwo bicycles were stolen from a carport on Hidden Lake Drive last week.
oA woman on Hwy. 106 South said a neighbor told her a black male was trying to pry open her front door and that he took off running. Nothing was reported missing.
oTwo people housesitting for someone on Isabelle's Way reported that someone tried to break into a back door by breaking the glass. The front door of the residence was also found to have been damaged.
oA man on Hwy. 106 South reported that someone stole his Bolen push mower from the front of his residence.
oA man on Hannah Heights Trail reported that someone had “rolled” two trees in his front yard with toilet paper.
oA man who put his four-wheeler up for sale on Craig's List said a black male came to his residence on Helican Springs Road to purchase it and took off on it without paying for it. A BOLO with a description of the man and four wheeler was sent out.
oHarassing phone calls were reported on Neese Commerce Road last week after a man said he had received various calls and text messages from his ex-wife. He said he received three phone calls and seven or eight text messages from her on that day and that she is only supposed to contact him to talk about their son.
oBattery and terroristic threats and acts were reported on Hwy. 72 East at the Southern Knights Club House when a man said a woman who had been drinking there threw a beer can at him, striking him in the face. He said the woman had been banned from the clubhouse previously, but the officer explained to him that the club president had since allowed her to come there numerous times and that the order could not be enforced only when they were “mad at her.”
oA woman on Belhaven Lane reported that a white male juvenile tried to steal her son's bicycle from the front yard. A witness described the boy and said he ran off towards Creekwood Drive after she confronted him.
