Danielsville attorney Chris Nesmith has withdrawn from the race for a Superior Court judge’s post in the Northern Judicial Circuit.
Nesmith was challenging incumbent Thomas Hodges in the non-partisan July 31 primary.
“After much prayer and with the consultation and blessing of my family, I have determined that due to the nature of the campaign, it is in the best interest of my family, children and my many supporters to voluntarily withdraw my name from contention for the office of Superior Court Judge,” said Nesmith in a Monday press release. “I truly believe that when God closes one door, He opens another. As I said before, I had financial setbacks that created problems with my tax obligations. I did not challenge or run from my personal tax liabilities. I look forward to continuing to represent the people of this circuit in my capacity as an attorney and being your Juvenile Judge. I hold no ill will toward my former opponent and wish him luck in the future."
An administrative law judge ruled Nesmith ineligible last week due to tax liens against him. Nesmith had appealed the decision to the Secretary of State, but withdrew from the race Monday, prior to a ruling by the state office.

Seriously, grow a pair, man up, and resign. If you aren't even responsible enough to pay your taxes and pay them on time, you sure as heck aren't qualified to be a judge or serve the public in any capacity.
