The Madison County Republican Sheriff’s primary has generated more campaign contributions than any other local race, with nearly $60,000 given to the three candidates.
Former county sheriff Clayton Lowe has received the most campaign financing with $40,849 contributed. Incumbent sheriff Kip Thomas has received $11,798, while Brenan Baird has received $7,012 from supporters.
The two Democrats in the sheriff’s race — Brent Zellner and William Kenneth White — don’t have any contributions, according to reports available online at http://ethics.ga.gov/, the website for the Georgia Government Transparency and Campaign Finance Commission.
