Homeless man charged with stealing GPS system
A homeless man was charged with breaking into another man’s car and stealing a TomTom navigational system while the man shopped inside the Dollar General on Madison Street in Ila.
Thomas Mitchell Minish, 32, was charged with entering automobile or other motor vehicle with intent to commit theft or felony.
According to the incident report, officer Alan Stratton met with the man, who said he noticed his TomTom was missing from his Jeep when he came out of the store. He said as he approached his car a driver next to him accelerated quickly out of the parking lot. The victim was able to get a partial tag number of the red Mitsubishi and a BOLO was given out. A store video showed a white male with tattoos and facial hair walk to the Jeep and remove the GPS unit and leave in the red Mitsubishi.

Did Mr. Jeep owner lock his vehicle upon leaving it to go shop? No? Well, reap what you sow, Mr. Jeep owner! If you don't lock, you lose. Trouble is we all lose because Mr. Jeep owner caused us all to pay for law enforcement to get involved, then the jail, then the court, then probation officers. Not because of the thief, but because of failure to secure property. Just because it's Ila and not Atlanta is no excuse. Lock it up, people, every time, all the time!
Keep locking up though if that gives you some kind of liberal peace of mind. I can tell by your tone that the victim was to blame. Do you support the rapist when the victim was dressed provocatively?
Also, give a political label to man X going to the sheriff's office to reclaim his DVD player that he reported stolen. Man X says, yeah, that one's mine; sheriff says do you have proof? Man X says I know what's mine! Sheriff says not good enough and sells the DVD player at auction. His neighbor, man Z, comes in to claim his electronic device that he, too, reported stolen; gives the sheriff the serial number and says his name is etched into the bottom. Man Z gets his device back. Which man is the idiot and which is the smart one? Which is the liberal and which the conservative? Sometimes, it's not about labels; sometimes it's just plain old common sense. Ain't that something country boys are supposed to have?
