Four people were arrested recently after an alleged fight at their home on Jones Mathews Road.
Chad William Fowler, 24, Natalie Joanne Fowler, 46, and Tina Marie Norton, 46, all of 817 Jones Matthews Road, Colbert, were each charged with one count of simple battery.
Richard Raymond Norton, 40, of the same address was charged with one count of simple assault.
According to the incident report, officer Joshua Smith was dispatched to the residence regarding a fight with a knife. The Nortons met them in the driveway, where they told Smith and another officer that they were trying to leave when he was attacked by Chad Fowler. Smith noted that R. Norton, who appeared to be “extremely intoxicated” had scratches on his face, arm and lower back and bite marks on his right forearm. He also admitted that he had a knife and did pull it out during the fight. He said he threatened to cut Fowler if he did not quit hitting him. Ms. Norton said she was attacked by Natalie Fowler while she was trying to break up the fight between the men. She said Fowler slapped her. Chad Fowler was found inside the house, lying on the couch. He appeared sweaty and his breathing was labored. He said he attacked Norton in self-defense. All parties stated they were each attacked with a “broom handle.”
The witness, who had called to report the fight, said he was on the phone with his girlfriend in his room when his mother (Fowler) told him to come outside because they were “at it.” When he went outside, he said he saw the two men arguing and then saw Norton strike Fowler first. He also said that Norton did pull a knife and threaten to “cut him (Fowler).” He said he tried to break up the fight and was struck by Ms. Norton in the back of the head.
