The 64th Annual Madison County Agricultural Fair is set for next week at the Comer Lions Club fairgrounds in Comer.
The fair begins Tuesday, Sept. 25 and runs through Saturday, Sept. 29. Gates open nightly at 6 p.m. with a children’s matinee to be held Saturday noon – 4 p.m. (Gates will re-open at 6 p.m.)
Gate price is $4 for ages six and over, five and under admitted free. Attendees can take 50 cents off their admission price for each pair of usable eyeglasses, hearing aids or cell phones donated to the Comer Lions Club. There is a $1 admission price for the Saturday matinee, with free admission to children 15 years old and under.
The James Gang will be back in town providing rides on the midway for young and old alike. Unlimited rides are available for $15 Tuesday, Thursday evening and for the Saturday matinee; unlimited rides are $18 Wednesday, Friday and Saturday evenings. Prizes will be given away each night at 10 p.m. and at the end of the Saturday matinee at 4 p.m., but you must be present to win, fair officials said. To enter the drawing, deposit your gate ticket in the barrel under the shelter.
Prizes to be offered are as follows: Tuesday – Panasonic microwave oven; Wednesday – Shark Navigator vacuum cleaner; Thursday - Maytag washer and dryer; Friday – stainless steel side-by-side refrigerator; Saturday (4 p.m.) – boom box and bicycle and Saturday (10 p.m.) - flat screen TV with entertainment center console.
