Commerce man arrested after woman calls for help
A Commerce man was arrested recently after a passerby called 9-1-1 to report that a white female was standing in a yard on Rogers Church Road yelling for help.
Terry Scott Wood, 28, 797 Allen Road, was charged with obstruction or hindering persons making an emergency call and an investigative hold.
According to the incident report, officer Michael Moore went to the scene where he and another officer were flagged down by Wood. Moore then went to talk to Wood’s wife, who said that she and Wood were arguing and that she got her phone to call 9-1-1 when he grabbed it and threw it at the side of the house, breaking it.
In another incident, James M. Young, 61, and Bryan A. Kidd, 35, 1900 Colbert-Smithonia Road, Colbert, were arrested after a search warrant was executed at the residence on Oct. 5. Young was arrested on crossing state/county guard lines with contraband, etc., possession of marijuana less than an ounce, possession of a Schedule II controlled substance and felony theft by receiving stolen property. Kidd was charged with possession of a Schedule II controlled substance (two counts), a parole violation, possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute, crossing state/county guardline with contraband, etc., possession of marijuana and theft by receiving stolen property.
Items found and taken into evidence during the search included: 29 firearms, one bag of marijuana, several bags of methamphetamine, several clear glass smoking pipes, digital scales, a heater spoon, several Crown Royal bags containing coins, a large box full of ammunition and two envelopes containing $7,500.
Other incidents on file at the sheriff’s office recently included:
•A woman on Davis Street reported that someone went into her storage building and took her push mower and two shovels.
•Burglary was reported at Meadow Baptist Church on Hwy. 191. The thief reportedly came in through a back window.
•A man on Sherwood Circle said someone broke into his storage building and stole a push mower.
•A woman came to the sheriff’s office to report that she believes her boyfriend’s son is being molested by his mother. She said that her boyfriend and his wife are going through a divorce. When asked why she thought the boy is being molested, she said she “had a feeling” because the boy wanted to sleep with her and his father. When she told him “no” he told her that he sleeps with his mother. She said he had never mentioned anything sexual. She said she had reported the child’s living conditions to DFCS earlier, but had forgot to mention anything about possible molestation.
•A woman reported that someone had entered her Chevrolet Blazer while it was parked in her yard and removed the CD player’s faceplate.
•Theft by taking was reported on Hwy. 106 South when a man said someone stole his Snapper riding mower.
•A woman reported that a large amount of copper wire had been removed from a rental residence she owns on Buddy Moore Road.
•A man on Hwy. 98 East reported that someone stole a utility trailer from his yard.
•A man in Diamond Hill MHP reported that someone broke into his home and took two of his prescription medications an, a set of Crown Royal glasses, his razor, and his wife’s Food Stamp card.
•Two female high school students were charged with affray and disrupting public school after they got into a fight and had to be pulled apart by the school resource officer.
•A man on Fitts Davis Road reported that his Wells Fargo checking account had been compromised and that five fraudulent charges had been made against it from online retailer across the country using his debit card.
•An Ingles employee reported that two black males stole steaks from the meat counter by putting them inside their clothing. They got into a black Ford Ranger driven by a white male.
•Harassing phone calls were reported on Joe Graham Road last week. A woman said she had received harassing text messages and voice mails from her landlord. She said he had not made any direct threats but that the messages made her feel uncomfortable.
•A missing person was reported on Hwy. 98 east. A woman came to the sheriff’s office to report that a woman has been missing from her residence since mid-September.
•Criminal trespass was reported on Gholston Street last week after a man there said someone tampered with his Acura Legend, which was parked beside his house. It appeared some wires were pulled from the engine and tobacco spit on the wheels.
•A teacher at the high school reported that someone took a school-owned iPad II from her room.
•Two suicide attempts were reported in the county.
•Officers responded to a domestic dispute on Sailors Road where a woman told them that she and her husband were arguing about their divorce and child custody. She said her husband got mad and went outside. She said a few minutes later she saw him come around the side of the house with a shotgun and go into their shop. Officers found no sign of the husband and the shop was locked.
•An alternative school student at the high school was charged with disrupting public school and obstruction after he allegedly refused to obey the school staff, cursed at them and left the school. The resource officer found the boy on the sidewalk across from the school where he proceeded to curse at the officer and act aggressively. He was handcuffed, taken to jail and released to his parents.
•Simple battery was reported on Vickery Lane following a dispute between neighbors. One neighbor reported that his neighbor stopped him at his mailbox and refused to let him pass. He said the man got out of his car and struck him in the face with a piece of mail. The neighbor denied that anything physical had happened, but said there are ongoing problems between he and his neighbor. Both parties were told to stay away from each other.
•Burglary and criminal trespass were reported at Carlton city hall last week. A clothes hanger was evidently used to try to break in and a window was broken but there were no signs of forced entry.
•A man on Glenn Carrie Road reported that someone broke into his truck by breaking out the driver side window while it was parked in his front yard. Several items were taken.
•Theft by taking was reported on Hwy. 72 West after a man reported that his narcotic medication had been stolen.

•A two-vehicle accident was reported at Sanders Road and Diamond Hill Neese Road at 5:25 p.m., Oct. 5.
•A motorcycle accident with injuries was reported at 1:27 p.m., Oct. 6, at Old Wildcat Bridge Road and Hwy. 29.
•A man complained of back pain after hitting a tree in a yard off Comer Paoli Road in Comer Oct. 1 around 12:30 p.m.
•A stove fire was reported at 250 N. Fourth Street in Colbert at 2 p.m., Oct. 4. Colbert and Comer Fire Departments responded.
