The Madison County Raider softball team defeated Heritage-Catoosa 9-8 Thursday to win the a three-game series and earn a trip to play in the State Elite Eight next week in Columbus.
Madison County got two home runs from Ivie Drake and a solid start from pitcher Randee Bettis.
Alexis Damron entered the game in the seventh inning in relief of Bettis. Madison County took a 9-3 lead into the final inning only to have Heritage battle back to close the margin to one run. Damron gloved a comeback shot to the mound throwing out the final runner to end the game with the tying run in scoring position.
