Madison County Industrial Development and Building Authority Executive Director Marvin White issued the following report to county commissioners Oct. 29:
“We opened the bids on Oct. 1 for the Hwy. 29 project and had two bidders: Mid-South Builders Inc., Lawrenceville, $1,718,130 and Griffin Brothers, Maysville, $1,478,013 — 50,640 feet of eight-inch ductal iron pipe, installed fittings and hydrants. The directional drill with eight-inch HDPE pipe, 365 feet almost $100,000 and almost $82,000 in fire hydrants. Griffin Brothers should get started sometime early December on this installation.
“We held a public hearing on Oct. 15 at 6 p.m. to discuss part of long-term regional sewage system improvements. This was required by the Georgia Environmental Protection Division. The purpose of the public meeting was to inform the public of the need for improvements to the authority’s wastewater system to comply with Section 391-3-6-02 of Georgia’s Water Quality Control rules and to encourage public involvement in development of a plan to improve the wastewater system.
“We received approval from the watershed planning and monitoring program of our watershed assessment on Oct. 10 from Georgia EPD.
“We have a prospective business looking to locate on Hwy. 72 at Foote McClellan Road. We need a commitment from the Madison County Board of Commissioners to help with road improvement on Foote McClellan Road approximately 350 feet, three lanes. In-lane, out-lane left turn lane and right turn lane. With the traffic flow at this location, there will need to be a traffic control signal.”
