A Comer man was sentenced recently in Madison County Superior Court to eight years in prison for possessing child pornography of a local minor.
Phillip Warren Dorminy, 51, 737 Paoli Road, Carlton, was sentenced to eight years confinement, 12 years probation and fined $1,350 for sexual exploitation of children. He was also sentenced to five years confinement for receipt, possession or transfer of a firearm by a convicted felon.
Other actions filed recently in the office of the Clerk of Superior Court include:
•Matthew Lee Kelley, 24, 1760 Cedar Road, Watkinsville, was sentenced to one year probation, 240 hours of community service and fined $941 for DUI. He was also sentenced to one year probation for tag light violation. Charges of possession of a schedule II controlled substance and driving under the influence were dismissed.
•Derek Maurice Williams, 25, 347 Fairview Street, Athens, was sentenced to one year probation and 40 hours of community service for obstruction of officers. Charges of battery under the Family Violence Act and cruelty to children in the third degree were dismissed.
•Richard Ashley McGaha, 33, P.O. Box 159, Bogart, was sentenced to one year probation for theft by receiving stolen property (reduced from burglary). A charge of failure to appear was dismissed.
•Phillip S. Moon, 35, 140 Moon Guest Road, Carlton, was sentenced to six months confinement, six months probation, 240 hours of community service and fined $1,241 for DUI. He was sentenced to six months confinement and six months probation for failure to maintain lane and drugs not in original container.
