Comer man dies following Nov. 6 wreck

A Comer man died Friday, Nov. 9, from injuries sustained in a head-on collision that occurred on Hwy. 172, on Tuesday, Nov. 6, at approximately 7:45 a.m.

According to the Georgia State Patrol, Henry Howard, 22, was traveling north on Hwy. 172 in a 1996 Mitsubishi when his vehicle reportedly crossed the centerline in a curve, striking Teresa Sanders, of Bowman, who was traveling south in a Chevrolet Equinox, head on. Both were transported to an Athens hospital by Madison County EMS with unspecified injuries.

Howard was not able to be life-flighted due to weather conditions, according to EMS director Jason Lewis.
