The city of Colbert will hold its annual “Christmas in Colbert” on Friday, Dec. 7, 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. in downtown Colbert.
The Colbert Elementary Children’s Christmas Choir will perform at 6:30 p.m. at the Pavilion with Christmas music by Danny Anthony. There will also be a cakewalk, inflatables, face painting, a hayride and free refreshments, including hotdogs, chips, drinks, hot chocolate and a marshmallow roast. The evening will include a visit with Santa Claus at the log cabin. “We will help support the Madison County Food Bank and Madison-Oglethorpe Animal Shelter,” city officials said.
Donation suggestions for the Food Bank include nonperishable food items, breakfast items, paper goods, hats, gloves, scarves or any unused warm clothing for children, and personal items (toiletries). There will also be a toy drive where the city will collect unwrapped toys for boys and girls (need is great for ages 7-12 years). Donation suggestions for the animal shelter include: dry and wet dog/cat food, cat litter, paper towels, bleach, 39-gallon trash bags, rubbing alcohol, brooms and dust pans, laundry detergent, blankets, sheets, towels, a refrigerator in good working order, and a copy machine. Bins will be available under the pavilion for all donations to be placed.
Monetary donations are accepted for each organization and a donation box will be available under the pavilion. If anyone wishes to donate to the City of Colbert to help support this event, please send to City Hall P. O. Box 215 or bring donations to City Hall. Baked items for cake walk is appreciated. Come and enjoy a fun-filled evening with your family and friends at the annual “Old Fashioned Christmas in Colbert.”
