Man allegedly threatens to ‘shoot police, then himself’
A man on Bryant Court allegedly threatened to “shoot the police and then himself” if his wife called the police after he allegedly grabbed her by the throat, picked her up, and then threw her to the ground.
The woman met officer Brandon Moss in the Ingles parking lot to report the incident, and he noted that she did have bruises on her throat and neck. She said her husband had firearms inside their home and that she was scared to go home but had nowhere else to go. Moss and two officers then went to the home where they found the suspect, who told them he and his wife had just had a “disagreement.” He then stated, “just shoot me, I want you to shoot me, I want to die.” He continued to beg them to shoot him or to take him to jail where he would “kill himself.” He was placed in handcuffs for officer safety and taken to Athens Regional for a mental evaluation.
