Madison County’s building permits remained far below their 2006 — pre-recession totals — in 2012. But the county building permit office did see a slight increase in residential and commercial permits compared to 2011.
According to figures from the Madison County Building Inspection office, 33 residential building permits were issued in 2012 compared to 27 in 2011. Of course, that is far less than the 211 issued in 2006 in Madison County. The residential permits dropped to 192 in 2007, 100 in 2008 and 33 in 2009.
Commercial permits jumped from four in 2011 to 14 last year. That’s down from 24 issued in 2006.
Meanwhile, mobile home permits decreased slightly last year, from 36 in 2011 to 30 in 2012. There were 100 mobile home permits issued in Madison County in 2006.

WE TOLD YA SO!
It would be good to see that finished; it could be a nice residential enclave with a central recreation area to create a sense of community there. It's well laid out with decent-sized lots so as not to be too crowded. Until all these subdivisions are completed, the county really shouldn't permit any more.
