Madison County government employees who work an average of 30 hours a week in 2013 must be offered health care coverage in 2014.

That’s a new mandate in the federal health care reform legislation.

Does this mean our part-time employees weren't offered insurance before? Shameful.

Almost no parttime workers get benefits in any sector of our economy. That's why Walmart just about only hires parttime workers. By the time a worker worked 10 more hours a week for full time at the same wage, the cost of the benefits would mean a pay raise for the worker. Or they could get a raise and then pay for the benefits the employer offered. Even the latter would be great because they wouldn't have to go buy individual medical policies at far, far greater cost.

This applies to all jobs, not just government jobs. Educate yourself!

Actually, the goal of ObamaCare is to make insurance premiums go down by making everyone participate, so we will pay less for both our own and employees' medical insurance coverage. That means less taxes for government employees' benefits as well as lower prices on the cost of goods and services from companies who now pay less for their employees' medical insurance coverage.

As a part-time worker who will now have to be offered insurance let me say, on behalf of myself and my family, "THANK YOU, PRESIDENT OBAMA!"

Things are truly GETTING BETTER around here! Finally! :)
