Danielsville hires new municipal court judge

For the first time in 22 years, Danielsville has a new municipal court judge.

Attorney Al Stone, who had served as judge for nearly a quarter of a century, resigned from his post effective Jan. 31. Stone submitted his resignation letter to the council Jan. 22, saying that it was time for him to move on to other opportunities of service.

“It has been an honor serving the citizens of Danielsville and I look forward to continue to serve the citizens in my law practice in the future,” Stone wrote.

“We appreciate the job he has done and service he has provided for the city,” Mayor Todd Higdon said. “He is a man of the utmost character.”

The council voted Monday night to hire Lithonia attorney Robert Sneed to replace Stone. He will hold the first court session on Monday, Feb. 18. The court start time will move from 5:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. Court is held the third Monday of each month at city hall.

Sneed will be paid $300 per court session on a month-to- month basis. Higdon said Sneed has many years of experience serving as a municipal judge and that he currently travels to a number of towns throughout north Georgia to preside over municipal court.

SO what you be saying is He AIN'T going to be living WITHIN the county? HUMmmmmm. That brings up an interesting question in it's self? Wasn't it not to long ago people were fussing about the sheriffs Dept. officers not living in the county AND driving their patrol cars home? I know SOME of you are going to say that the citizens were paying for their gas in the patrol cars and this guy will use his own car? BUT my question is will Madison Co. pay him mileage for using his own car? IF SO then wouldn't that be the same as the citizens paying for the gas for him to get here? Ok. then wouldn't it also be right to pay the officers who live outside the county mileage to get here? I mean if it's wrong for one it should be wrong for everyone?

Come on, RR; we're giving them a vehicle to use at no charge. They can at lease cover their gasoline to the county line. I think you may be nit-picking. We have much bigger problems to grapple with in Madison County.

BTW, would you like to have a new keyboard so that you won't have so many inappropriate question marks? Or is the problem your typing? I have both a Mac and a PC keyboard I can leave for you somewhere to pick up.

Virginia Moss- BUT what some were talking about on this subject was they proposed that EVERY officer AT THE END OF HIS SHIFT take his patrol car back to the sheriffs Dept. get in HIS personal car AND drive home then drive HIS personal car back everyday? You also said "we're giving them a vehicle to use at no charge" HELLO are they not riding around protecting YOU and me? A bunch of people were all for them using their personal vehicles to get to and from the sheriffs Dept.?
AND NO I don't need no new keyboard I need NEW EYES that can see because I am LEGALLY BLIND?

Sorry, I can't help you there. Seems you can repeatedly find the shift keys with no problem at all. You mentioned some time ago that the reason for the question marks was a malfunctioning keyboard, so I thought I'd try to help you out.

Virginia- NO it's probably my mind and fingers DON'T work at the same speeds? I know what I am wanting to say BUT it may not type the way I am thinking it. If you overlook the Question marks it makes sense? AND I did get a new keyboard? This one is a keyboard for life it is sealed so if you spill some Liquid on it it won't short out? I usually try to go back and proof read before I post BUT some times I'm in a hurry AND I know YOU can relate to that?

Ms.K- taylor is probably talking about the post from Virginia Moss about MY typo's and my reply back to her? People get sidetracked from the story and start posting about the comments. It really takes away from the story.
