Caitlin Felt was recognized as Madison County’s “Star Student” for 2013 Feb. 21 at the Madison County Chamber of Commerce breakfast in the boardroom of the old county courthouse in Danielsville.
Felt chose Madison County High School language arts instructor Dallas Cowne as her “Star Teacher.” She said Cowne is passionate about what he does and has inspired her to approach her career with the same passion.
She said she plans to study international law to work for human rights.
Cowne said Felt is the “best student I’ve had in a decade,” adding that he hopes his 2-year-old daughter will “grow up to be the young lady Cait is.” The Star Student must have the highest SAT score for the senior class and have a grade point average in the top 10 percent of their class.
Felt is the daughter of Andy and Shannon Felt, who are both employed by the Madison County School System.
Jackson EMC Security hosted the breakfast. Bill Kokaly, a representative of Congressman Doug Collins, and Jerry Barrow of Athens Technical College, also spoke at the breakfast and recognized Felt and Cowne.
