Jones Chapel UMC will host an event called “Karaoke for a Cause – Spaghetti Supper” to raise funds for the 2013 Relay for Life on Friday, March 22.
Plates are $7 each (4 for $25) and include spaghetti, salad, bread and tea. They will be served from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m., with Karaoke beginning at 7 p.m. DJ – Marcus Dobbs will be available with his equipment to lead the night in much fun with song and fellowship, officials said.
All Madison County Relay teams and supporters are invited to “come out and join the fun.” Anyone can bring a homemade dessert with a $5 pre-registration fee ($10 at door) and enter into a dessert contest for best appearance (first and second place) to win a prize and have an opportunity to then auction their dessert where the proceeds will be given back to the winner/team to be added to their own team’s fund- raising efforts. The remaining desserts will be made available for $1 minimum donation per serving, with an option of proceeds going back to the registering team. Desserts need to be on site and registered by 6:45 p.m. to be considered for the prizes, officials said.
There will be opportunity for pre-purchasing luminaries for Relay for Life. Forms for identifying survivors in the community will be available, and the Relay committee would appreciate any of those who plan on attending the April 26 event to pre-register for Survivor recognition.
“Come join us in unity and song to Fight Cancer One Birthday at a time,” officials said. “Help celebrate the American Cancer Society’s 100th year, and Madison County Relay’s 15th year in the effort to raise money for the fight against cancer.”
