John H. Jones Masonic Lodge of Danielsville, Shannon Masonic Lodge of Comer, and the Madison County Sheriff’s Office will present the Georgia Child Identification Program (GACHIP) event at the Madison County Library on Saturday, Sept. 27, from 9 a.m. until 3:30 p.m.
The Georgia Child Identification Program is one of the most comprehensive child recovery, identification, and abduction awareness programs ever to be offered to parents in the state of Georgia. According to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, approximately 1,000,000 children are reported missing in the United States each year.
At this event, you will be provided, free of charge, all of the materials necessary to generate identifying items of your child, such as dental impressions, fingerprints, and DNA, should your child ever become lost or missing. The DNA is collected by swabbing the inside of the child’s mouth so the process is very simple, painless, and only takes about 10-15 minutes per child. The completed kit containing the DNA, fingerprints, and dental impressions of the child will be turned over to the parent to take home.
No information or data of the child will be retained, except for a permission slip to document the number of children served. In the event your child is missing, you will be able to provide law enforcement with this kit as an aid in recovery and identification.
The mission of the GACHIP is to raise public awareness concerning the risk of abduction or exploitation that children now face in today’s society. This mission is accomplished by conducting GACHIP events throughout our state.
“Please come out and take advantage of this free service,” organizers said.
