Bogart man charged with aggravated battery

According to a report from the Madison County Sheriff’s Department, a deputy arrived at the Quick Pick and found a woman sitting in the floor of the store in front of the cash register, bleeding from her left eye.

She told the deputy that Wayne Thomas punched her with his fist as she was getting out of the vehicle. Thomas had already left the scene. The victim was transported to Athens Regional Medical Center. And the deputy said he learned later that the victim suffered damage that could lead to a loss of sight in her left eye. She is already blind in her right eye.

Wayne Darnell Thomas, 49, 1940 Snowmill Road, Bogart, faces one count of aggravated battery.
