A Hull man was charged with DUI after officer Joshua Smith spotted him weaving over the roadway on a moped while on Neese Commerce Road recently.
Andrew Jackson Dill, 59, 7586 Nowhere Road, was also charged with weaving over the roadway and driving while license withdrawn.
According to the incident report, Smith was on patrol when he got behind the red moped trike (three wheels, two in front, one in back) going about 15 mph and observed the driver (Dill) swerve erratically as if he were trying to lay it on its side. Smith stopped the moped and determined that Dill’s license was suspended for DUI in 2005. Smith noted that Dill’s eyes were bloodshot and he smelled of alcohol. He was taken to jail.
In another arrest, a Commerce man was arrested recently after his wife called 9-1-1 to report that her husband was drunk and would not stop arguing with her.
Christopher Brian Ferguson, 33, 384 McGinnis Chandler Road, was charged with receipt, possession or transfer of a firearm by a convicted felon or felony first offender.
Officer Justin Hanley met with the woman, who told him that after she called 9-1-1, he went into their bedroom, got a gun out of the gun case and said he was going to shoot himself. He then locked himself in the bathroom. Ferguson said they were arguing about her nephew but that he had not threatened to hurt himself. He then proceeded to tell Hanley that he was a convicted felon since he was 17 years old. A criminal history indicated that he was convicted of burglary at 17 and was a felon. He was arrested and taken to jail.
Other arrests on file at the sheriff’s office recently included:
•Benjamin Wayne Black, 37, 7960 Hwy. 98 West, Commerce, hold for Colorado.
