A Hull man was arrested last week on family violence charges.
Larry Darnell Sheats, 53, 120 Arthur Road, was charged with one count of simple battery FVA.
According to the incident report, officer Gary Floyd went to the residence on Arthur Road where Sheats told him his live-in girlfriend’s son hit him. Floyd noted that one of Sheats’ eyes was puffy. Sheats said he bought a birthday cake for his girlfriend’s son and then had an argument with her. The girlfriend said Sheats was drunk when the two began to argue and at some point he struck her in the chest and then kicked her in the leg, knocking her to the ground. At that point, her 13-year old son came in to see what was going on and hit Sheats once to make him get off of her. The boy stated that he saw Sheats hitting and kicking his mother, so he struck Sheats until he let his mother go.
Sheats said they have been living together for almost a month and that his girlfriend is a drug addict who should be grateful that she has a place to stay since she is “usually homeless.”
Sheats was taken to jail.
In another arrest, Roger Dale Snow, 48, of 8209 Hwy. 106 South, Hull, was charged with one count of terroristic threats and acts involving threatening text messages to his wife.
According to the incident report, office Kyle Roberts went to a residence on Virginia Lane to meet with Snow’s wife regarding the messages.
The victim said she had been receiving numerous threatening messages from Snow. She showed the messages to Roberts, one of which stated that he (Snow) was going to “kill her” and “choke her out” and that if she was still breathing to “go ahead and choke yourself.” Many of the messages contained statements that he was going to kill her or that she was going to die.
The woman also said her daughter had called her that morning telling her that Snow made comments to her that he put a rifle in his truck in their driveway so he would have “easy access to it.” Snow said she is in fear for her life and for the life of her 6-year old son. She said they were staying with her parents on Virginia Lane because she was afraid of what Snow might do to them if they went home.
Roberts spoke with two other officers (his superiors) and told them he would like to serve an arrest warrant as soon as possible because he felt the victim was in danger.
