Dear Editor:

To address Mr. Weldon Ingram and Miss Susan Kingsolver. First of all, there has never been anyone who can say we went to war for oil that was misleading from the 2004 election. The UN would be screaming bloody murder.

The people of Iraq are the only ones getting money.

The other is I am 100 percent a disabled Vietnam vet. Also, there was no oil over there and gas was 25 cents a gallon back then.

I am glad to have gone and done my duty. There are millions living in freedom all over the world. God bless them.

Miss Kingsolver, Obama is no FDR. He might care less than you think.

The same senators that voted to go to war just put politics above judgment.

There is only one solution and that is drill here now and get low-cost gas. Check world gas prices. We are not paying $10 per gallon

Biden voted in 1999 for deregulation that liberal groups are blaming for part of the financial crisis. The law allowed Wall Street investment banks to create the kind of mortgage-related securities at the core of the problem now.

Biden Said McCain supports tax breaks for oil companies, and "wants to give them another $4 billion tax cut."

Biden is repeating a favorite saw of the Obama campaign, and it's misleading. McCain supports a cut in income taxes for all corporations, and doesn't single out any one industry for that benefit.

During the debate, Biden said, "Oh, on clean coal. My record, just take a look at the record! My record for 25 years has supported clean coal technology.”.... However, during an early campaign stop once he was announced as VP Candidate, Biden said, "No coal plants here in America. If they’re going to build them, over there [China]. Make them clean. We’re not supporting clean coal.”. One of the most upsetting lines last night in the debate was Biden's attempt to say that he didn't know he was voting on a War resolution? I'm sorry but someone who has been in the Senate since Nixon didn't know he was voting on a War resolution when he voted on the Iraq War! Let me ask you people does he think we are stupid? Or is he just stupid? Either way if a seasoned senator doesn't know when he's voting on a war resolution we have bigger problems in Washington then we know! And we certainly do not need a VP like that sitting with an inexperienced president! If you think things are unstable now wait and see what will happen if God Forbid Obama and Biden get to the White House… Sarah Palin did great last night. She was able to manipulate the debate by bringing the talking points back to the issues that she wanted to talk about to the American people! McCain / Palin will be a breath of fresh air for this country and will make a great president and vice president. The age of Obama will end November 4th

It also needs to be known that the great Obama was the 2nd highest paid (3 yrs received $126,000) from the Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac lobbiest. This man is evil and one of his good friends is William Ayers. This type of information does not come out in the media regarding Obama.

I agree w/Kevin W. If you think things are unstable now wait and see what will happen if Obama and Biden get to the White House. He is not black as everyone is refering to: he is mollto and of muslin background.

You know Palin well, do you? None of you guys make any
sense. Are we talking about the same party who has lead us from one mess to another since they took office. Oil is the least of our problems. Many people don't even own cars anymore and if they did they couldn't afford insurance, upkeep, a yard to park in and no matter if gas was one dollar a gallon they couldn't buy it, no jobs no money. And if you think jobs are not scarce you are hanging out with those well to do folks, not your common American.

This was so far out there I thought I’d missed something from my bible studies so I did a little research. The warning below really is from the bible, Revelations 22:18-19, look it up. It warns folks not to add or take from his word.
“I warn everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: If anyone adds anything to them, God will add to him the plagues described in this book. And if anyone takes words away from this book of prophecy, God will take away from him his share in the tree of life and in the holy city, which are described in this book” (Revelation 22:18-19).
As for the below mentioned it is a total lie designed to prey on the ignorance and fear of those who know a little bit, primarily by hearsay, rather than study of the Bible. Read your Bible.

Wake up lady. We have spent the last 8 years EXPERIENCING the plagues. That is why we need real change from a candidate that actually offers SOLUTIONS to problems, not just more petty childish attacks. By the way, Barack Obama is a CHRISTIAN, just like you and me.

You are aware that the reason the United States exists is because people fled religious intolerance and established a country where ALL faiths can practice their religion without fear of reprisal?

No. As my church is a 501c3, I cannot advocate political issues one way or the other. So, while I am a pastor, not only would it be wholly inappropriate for me to mention the name of my church, but it could jeopardize our nonprofit status.

Kevin I don’t know where you get your biblical imformation but the word antichrist is only found in the following Bible verses. Could you please tell me where you get your information Maybe I’m not reading the same book as you.
And whats this about a wound on his head. Where did you find that?
1 John 2:18 Little children, it is the last time: and as ye have heard that antichrist shall come, even now are there many antichrists; whereby we know that it is the last time.
1 John 2:22 Who is a liar but he that denieth that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist, that denieth the Father and the Son.

Remember the point of the Trade Center attacks? The point was to bring down the U.S. economy. The trade center attacks were only the precursor, the "bait" if you will to start a military conflict. Bush, Cheney and McCain took the bait and went off to war where the U.S. got bogged down and was forced to spend billions upon billions. Remember how Bushand McCain thought it would be quick and easy? Those fools only look one step ahead.

Fast forward to today. Because of the bogged down military operation and high oil prices, the U.S. economy, heck the world economy, has been brought to its knees. All because Bush, McCain and Cheney took the bait planted by a few extremists living in a cave! Seven years later who has won what? Bush won the battle that didn't matter in Iraq by spending a trillion U.S. tax dollars that crushed the U.S. economy; Bin Laden won the war.

Lesson: Look more than one move ahead in the game. If your opponent is taunting you into action, he probably has a good reason. Don't take the bait. If your opponent is giving you an "easy win" don't take the bait. As we now know, a "quick and easy win" can be quite expensive, time consuming and winning on the battlefield can result in a real loss of the true prize: the economy.

How do all you armchair warriors who were so gung ho to spill other people's blood for nationalist ignorance now that your retirement funds are becoming worthless?

That makes sense. I remember seeing pictures of the Bush family with their arms wrapped around the Bin Laden family looking all cozy and you know I thought about that when Palin was running her mouth about Obama. Also her own associates sound a little shady. You know everything has been so garbled the last eight years and no matter how we feel about the conflict in the east our minds and hearts have been over there watching in awe as our beloved country women and men are being killed and maimed. The ones who are lucky enough to make it home come home to a ruined America. No jobs, no homes and living with a new dread and one that must scare the crap out of them. The wounded have their own horror stories about the hospitals they stayed in.
As for the economy I’m a lucky one because the mortgage on my home is very low and folks whom I know with high mortgages are just not making enough money to pay everything and many of them have lost their jobs. Now they are homeless and if they don’t have a family who can help them they are in a big mess.
I noticed folks getting money from mortgages and at the time asked them how the heck they would pay but I got caught with many credit cards and at the time my mom was dying from cancer. I used those cards to help make her last year pleasant with good food, a warm house and a few niceties. The little money she had went for medical bills.
After she died I was faced with high bills and joined one of those companies you see advertised on T.V. and for two years paid an exorbitant amount to them and they were supposed to pay off my credit cards. Hardly any of that money went to pay my bills and I filed bankruptcy for the first time.
Another thing, back in 2006 top house staffers, including Karl Rove enjoyed a $4,200 dollar raise boosting their total salary to $165,200 while they blocked a two-dollar minimum wage increase.
The raise failed because at the time there were more Republicans.
In 2007 wage increase passed and the wages went from five fifteen an hour to five eighty.
July twenty fourth, 2007 the wages rose to six fifty-five. I was making that in the eighties.
My thinking is this Nafta and all the illegals working for lower than minimum wages has had a lot to do with that. Mexico got rich off us, as did China and other countries. Big business loved it and was raking in fortunes thanks to Republicans and their special interests. We’ve had no one to fight for us and the Republicans have run roughshod over their own country to pad their bank accounts. We’ve had dysfunctional leaders and just like children from homes where dysfunction is all they know from alcoholic or drug addicted parents, sick parents, child abuse or other maladies we need structure and we need to break the pattern.
Maybe some of you think I don’t sound like a liberal, well I am but now I feel for us Americans, it’s time the illegals went and left us to mend our own country. We have enough out of job Americans and one thought I had was a program where the government could pay us to build a border fence. We are Americans and have come through this before and I have faith we can do it again with the right leadership. Another term with Republicans and God only knows where we will end up.
