A dedication was recently held at the Comer Travel Museum for a new gazebo and bridge that was presented to the City of Comer.
The Comer Lions Club initiated the development of a city park in the downtown area by having a 26-foot gazebo and bridge constructed in memory of former Lions Club member Cliff Yarbrough, who served as mayor of the City of Comer for five terms, two terms on the city council and approximately 30 years as a Lions Club member. Mayor Jody Blackman officially declared the park area as “J. Cliff Yarbrough Memorial Park.”
A bronze plaque inside the gazebo notes the recognition and a bronze plaque outside recognizes the Lions Club’s contribution to the city and the citizens of Comer.
