A Hull man was arrested on family violence charges last week after he allegedly struck his wife in the face with a hardback book in front of their two children. The blow reportedly broke the woman’s jaw.
Philip Edward Kappesser, 38, 595 James Holcomb Road, was charged with one county of battery FVA and two counts of cruelty to children in the third degree.
In another incident, a Charlie Bolton Road resident reported that a woman who came into his residence to use the phone stole his pants, which contained his wallet, credit cards, driver’s license and $60 cash.
According to the incident report, the man told deputy Jeff Strickland that an unknown white female came to his door between 4 and 4:30 a.m. and knocked for approximately ten minutes before he opened the door. The woman was described as 5 foot 4 inches to 5 foot six inches tall, weighing 140 to 150 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes and wearing blue jeans and a brown shirt. She reportedly told the man she was out of gas and asked if she could use the phone. The man said after she spoke to someone on the phone, she grabbed his pants, which were laying by the phone and ran out the door, got into a vehicle, and left the residence. No evidence was located at the scene, according to the report.
