LETTER: Pethel on the right track to reduce gov’t costs

Dear Editor:

I read in the Sept. 25, 2008, Madison County Journal story, “County Considers Layoffs,” that Mr. John Pethel is on the right track to reduce county government costs.

Why would the BOC have to “insist” the tax commissioner collect delinquent taxes of almost $750,000 over the past three years?

It seems to me she is not doing her job. Maybe everyone owning property should not pay their taxes. I hear a lot of talk about “change” this election cycle. I will vote for at least one change.

Let me remind the employees of Madison County that we, the taxpayers, are the employer.
