Madison County Farm Bureau and the Madison County Chamber of Commerce are sponsoring a local candidate forum on Tuesday, Oct. 28, at the Madison County High School Theater.
Doors will open at 6:30 p.m., according to organizers, and the forum will begin at 7 p.m.
Candidates from all undecided local contested races, as well as candidates for state senate and U.S. representatives are invited.
Those candidates who have committed to attending the forum are: probate judge – Joley Barber and Cody Cross; sheriff – incumbent Clayton Lowe and challenger Kip Thomas; tax commissioner – challenger Kathy Stamps and incumbent Louise Watson; county commission District 4 – Dewitt “Pete” Bond and Melvin Drake; county commission District 5 – challenger Cathy Livesay and incumbent Bruce Scogin; board of education District 3 – challenger Gary Cromer and incumbent Leslie Neal; state senator 47th District – incumbent Ralph Hudgens and challenger Tim Riley and U. S. representative 10th District challenger Bobby Saxon. Incumbent Rep. Paul Broun is not expected to attend the forum, according to organizers.
