Madison County candidates file contribution reports

Here is a look at the Sept. 30 campaign contribution reports filed by candidates in contested Madison County elections. These candidates will be required to file one more report with the county elections superintendent before the Nov. 4 elections. That report is due Oct. 25.

Sheriff

•Clayton Lowe, incumbent, Democrat — total contributions received, $20,529; expenses, $10,942. Itemized contributions listed in the Sept. 30 report include: Ed Tolley, $500; Larry Cox, $200; Gary Locke, $200; and George Cronic, $400.

•Kip Thomas, Republican — total contributions received, $7,520; expenses, $11,207. Itemized contributions listed in the Sept. 30 report include: Harriet Gray, $120; Madison County Republican Party, $500; Michael W. Maxey, $250; Russ Moon, $300; and All About Asphalt Inc., $600.

•Joley Barber — total contributions received: $5,399; expenses, $2,471. Itemized contributions listed in the Sept. 30 report include: Ellisa Garrett, $250; Debra M. Finch, $200; Carhannah Corp./Smith, $750; Grady Mahaffey, $500; and Common Source, $750.

•Cody Cross — total contributions received: $9,449; expenses, $8,055. Itemized contributions listed in the Sept. 30 report include: John Adams, $100; Jerry Russell, $100; Sandra Russell, $100; and Phil and Debbie Williams, $140.

Tax Commissioner

•Louise Watson, incumbent, Democrat — total contributions received, $2,089; expenses, $2,404. Itemized contributions listed in the Sept. 30 report include: Grady Mahaffey, $500; and the Madison County Democratic Party, $400.

BOC District 4

•Dewitt Bond, Republican — total contributions received, $0; expenses, $1,214.

•Melvin Drake, Democrat — total contributions received, $175; expenses, $717. Itemized contributions listed in the Sept. 30 report include: the Madison County Democratic Party, $175.


BOC District 5

•Cathy Livesay, Democrat — total contributions received, $175; expenses, $305. Itemized contributions listed in the Sept. 30 report include: the Madison County Democratic Party, $175.

•Bruce Scogin, incumbent, Republican — total contributions received, $2,103; expenses, $580. Itemized contributions listed in the Sept. 30 report include: the Madison County Republican Party, $500. Scogin also reported a loan to himself of $287.
