Woman says son, his girlfriend vandalized home
An Osley Mill Lane woman reported that her son and his girlfriend vandalized her home.
According to a report from the Madison County Sheriff’s Office, the victim reported that she had asker her son and his girlfriend to leave the residence, saying there was too much illegal activity going on and she wanted it to stop. The victim left her home and when she returned, she found her home ransacked and items were missing.
A bedroom window was broken. The back door was damaged. Items were scattered across the floor. A dog kennel, cow trough, gas heater, wooden kitchen table, a baker’s rack, a microwave, two garden benches and five fishing poles were taken.
Other incidents on file at the Madison County Sheriff’s Office this past week included:
•A man reportedly tried to cash a forged check under his father’s name at First Citizens Bank. His father also reported that his home had been burglarized on Hwy. 191 and that nothing appeared to be missing, but after being notified of the forged checks, he realized that 21 checks had been taken, along with some cash. His volunteer firefighter helmet had been taken as well.
•A woman reported that her debit card had been fraudulently used for a purchase of $92.78 at a Kroger in Atlanta.
•A student reportedly had a three-inch knife in his boot at Madison County Middle School. The juvenile was arrested for having a weapon in a school zone.
•An officer met with a woman on Hwy. 98 who said she is “concerned for the county, state and United States of America.” She told the officer that she believed the ouzo she bought in Athens was fake, because it was different than the ouzo she drank in Greece while in the Army. She said she believed that “every small crime, including rape, robbery and murder were all part of a bigger plan by the government to commit an even bigger crime.” She said there are people living in Madison County who are “violating the second part of the 14th Amendment. The officer told her a report would be put on file.
•A suicide was reported last week in western Madison County.
•A woman who said she and her husband are having marital problems reported that her husband threatened to kill himself.
•A suicide attempt was reported on Hwy. 29.
•A deputy responded to a report of someone threatening suicide on Sammy Haggard Road and the law officer was bitten on the leg by a dog.
•A man and a woman fought on Ivywood Road. The man reportedly held the woman for about 10 seconds and wouldn’t let her go. And the woman reportedly struck the man over the head with a cell phone.
•A Stapler Road man reported that someone broke into his home through a window and stole his flatscreen TV.
•A juvenile at Madison County High School was charged with simple battery after allegedly striking another student from behind, knocking him to the floor and repeatedly beating him.
•A bottle of pills was found at the Golden Pantry on Hwy. 29.
•A Moons Grove Church Road resident reported the theft of a .40 caliber Glock handgun.
•A woman on Short Seagraves Road told an officer that a juvenile has been living in a car with a man and the child’s mother, who are homeless and on drugs. The mother said she was leaving her child with the complainant and that if the woman was not there to get the child, then child would just sit in the car and starve and die. The mother said she was going to shoot herself and that the boyfriend was going to kill the child. The complainant, who said she has already reported the situation to the Department of Family and Children’s Services, currently has the child with her and is trying to get custody of the child. She said she wants a report on file in case the man tries to come to her house.
•A woman on Colbert Danielsville Road reported May 13 that her son had been missing since May 11. The man was found May 18.
•An Army veteran with post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) said he was having thoughts of hurting himself or other people. He was transported to Athens Regional Medical Center.
•A deputy shot an injured deer that was bleeding from its ear and struggling to breathe on West Street.
•A person reported the theft of his red/brown dog on Hwy. 106.
•A woman on Mathis Road said her husband attacked her while he was in a drunken stupor, choking her and damaging her phone. The officer saw no visible markings from the attack and no warrant for arrest was issued.
•Four tires were reportedly stolen off a broken-down vehicle on Nowhere Road.
•Burglary was reported on Madison Boulevard.
•Stolen license plates were reported at a Hwy. 29 residence.
•A cast-iron wood stove was reported stolen from an Ed Coile Road property.
•An antique saw was reported stolen from a Steele Road residence.
•Damage was reported to units at Colbert Mini Storage on Hwy. 72.
•A man reported that a co-worker took his handgun.
•A Glenn Carrie Road woman accused her husband of cheating on her after he came home from work smelling like hydraulic fluid. She said he smelled that way to cover up being with another woman. The man went to the bathroom and his wife followed him in. His wife pushed him and he urinated on her. Then she allegedly grabbed his private part.
•Shoplifting was reported at Fred’s in Colbert.
•A couple got into an argument on Stone Ridge Drive after a man reportedly threw a knife too hard in the sink. The man said his wife then threw ointment all over him and the bedroom and took his debit card.
•A domestic dispute was reported at Coyal Strickland Road. A woman said her ex-husband punched her in the middle of the back. The deputy saw no visible marks and the woman was advised of the warrant and protective order processes.
•Several firearms were reported stolen from a Colbert-Danielsville Road residence.
•A man on Gillespie Drive reported that someone entered his residence during the night and took $150 from his wallet. He suspects his ex-girlfriend took the money.
•A woman on Norwood Road reported that her boyfriend grabbed her by the throat and pushed her on the side of the head.
•A man on Hwy. 98 reported a knife and note in his mailbox. The note was from a person alleging that his daughter had been inappropriately touched and warning to “stay off my property.”
•A custody dispute was reported on Power Road.
•A vehicle was reportedly on its side after an accident on Rogers Mill Road at 11 a.m., May 14.
•A two-vehicle accident was reported on Hwy. 29 near Bluestone Baptist Church at 7:50 a.m., May 13.
•A 6-year-old complained of neck pain after an accident at Sanford Road and Hwy. 106 at 5:47 p.m., May 12.
•A smoking stove was reported at 9:59 p.m., May 12, on Hardman Morris Road.
•A grease fire was reported at a Hwy. 29 locale at 9:37 p.m., May 12.
