LETTER: It is parents’ job to keep children in school

One of his complaints was the amount of stress put on students. Yes, high school can be very stressful, but he doesn’t know the stresses of an adult. I also think having an after school job is vital for teaching responsibility, but should never be put in the place of actual school time. You have a lifetime of working ahead of you.

And finally, the suggestion of rewards, I bet every teacher that read your opinion couldn’t help but laugh. I’m sure that it is common knowledge that teachers don’t exactly bring in the big bucks, so they can’t go buying students a goody bag every time they ace a test. They work so hard to give students an education and that is all we should expect.

The truth is, no one who is considering dropping out of school is going to care what anyone says, but they will definitely live to regret it. It is our job as parents to keep our children in school, not the school’s job to cater to the students’ growing demands. Our children are the future. Without educated children, where does our future stand?
