Dear Editor:

I’m writing in response to the letter from Teresa Christian. First let me say it’s important for all of us to look for sources of information other than the so called “news” outlets. Progressives watch Keith Olbermann on MSNBC. If you are a conservative, you watch Fox News. Unfortunately neither of these sources offer unbiased information on the presidential candidates.

If you want to know where Barack Obama or John McCain stand on the issues, first you should go to their websites, http://www.barackobama.com/issues/ or http://www.johnmccain.com/Informing/Issues/.

Then you should go to some reliable non-partisan sources to verify what you read. One good option is The League of Women Voters (they have a voter’s guide) http://www.lwv.org/AM/Template.cfm?Template=/CM/ContentDisplay.cfm&ContentID=12078). On issues that affect businesses (as well as individuals) such as tax and health care policies try Inc. magazine (a small business magazine), http://www.inc.com/election/.

(If you do not have a computer you can use one in the Madison County library for free. If you aren’t computer “savvy,” they’ll even help you.)

When you look at these non-partisan sources, you see that Ms. Christian is misinformed on the policies and positions of Barack Obama.

Regarding tax policy Barack Obama’s policy weighs heavily in favor of middle class American’s. Most of us will get a tax cut. Unless you earn more than $250,000 per year, why would you care if he eliminates President Bush’s tax cuts?

Regarding health care, Barack Obama does not favor universal health care. He favors reform of the current system so that health care is more affordable (from private insurance companies). He also wants to regulate health insurance companies so that they can’t increase your insurance rates or drop your insurance if you get sick. John McCain’s plan does nothing to address this problem.

Regarding his religion, everything I read and hear about him (from reliable sources) says Barack Obama is a Christian. I’m a Christian and the bible teaches me to not question or judge the faith of another Christian.

For the last eight years the Republican Party has successfully used social issues (such as gay rights and abortion) to inspire working families to vote for Republicans. Are you willing to deprive your child of affordable health care so that you can vote against someone who does not agree with you on these issues?

Working families are much better off under Barack Obama’s plan than they will be under John McCain’s plan.

But don’t take it from me. Invest a little time in the future of America and read for yourself what John McCain and Barack Obama tell you about their plans. Do not take misinformation from so called “news” shows.

But...you're assuming that he isn't lying and that he IS indeed a Christian, which you do NOT know as a fact. All you KNOW is what he "claims".

Since you want to quote YOUR Bible, let me refer you back to that same book.

The Bible warns of a great deceiver, basically describing a person who tells everyone exactly what they want to hear, someone who is convincing and proclaims to be a good person. That person will become a leader, promising to make things better, promising to do good, promising that he/she is the answer to all of the problems that everyone is facing. But, that great deceiver is a liar who will deliver everyone to disaster, and most will not realize their mistake until it is much, much too late.

Now I'm not calling anyone the anti-Christ, and I'm not saying that Obama IS this great deceiver.

But then again...if the shoe fits.

You'd better go back and read that Bible again, lest you be one of the people who helps bring the great deceiver to power.

And remember, even Satan knows the Bible. That certainly doesn't make him good.

So the next time you want to refer to the Bible as your source of guidance, make SURE you really, truly KNOW what you are talking about...or you could be misleading others down the wrong path. And you know what? Your Bible warns you of the consequences of doing that. You won't like the consequences.

My only question regarding this, is as follows.... please tell me how you can be a "Christian" yet support one that is pro abortion, you may feel free to argue your point with me, which with enough finger pointing and name calling you, like many others; may think you have won. Please don't answer me, think on this....

ONE day, all of US will stand before GOD, how will you answer him, when he asks you, WHY? Why did you, who calls yourself a Christian, support and defend those that killed my creations? For as Christians, you are all; including the "UNBORN" created by GOD... what say ye?

Please don't think that you are the only person who has a right to post to an open forum and express yourself and not expect other people to be able to express themselves in kind.

You posted your opinion, you don't have the right to even ASK someone else not to respond with theirs.

That is petty and cowardly and sounds like you don't have the strength of your convictions to stand face-to-face with people you don't agree with.

You want to say your piece but don't want to hear what someone else has to say.

Guess what, we don't want to hear your opinions either, but nobody posted a whiner's message saying "let me post mine but YOU can't post yours."

Self-rightous? I wonder how YOU are going to answer God when he asks WHY? Why did you CLAIM to be a Christian but not have the courage of your convictions?

Courage? My name is there, I am not hiding. I am not “anonymous”, could it be that maybe you think that someone out in the world may know who you are, so you conceal your name out of fear of being discovered as being a Christian only by your own admissions? I will restate what I said before; "I" am not the one that "anyone" here on this entire planet has to answer to. I stand by what I stated, How can someone claim to be a Christian, yet, at the same time, state that having an abortion on demand, is in line with God's will? Oh, I have heard all the arguments which you wish to state again, how the Bible is not "accurate" in that area, "Do Not Kill” as well as other Liberal Thinkers, take the Word and twist it, I guess, again in my "opinion" to make them feel less guilty. I have heard how man and woman are not created by God... but my faith, my values don't see it that way. My faith tells me, I will be held accountable for what I say and do, as well as for what I don't say and do not do. The entire intent of my response was not about faith, as much as it was about those claiming to be Christians, yet all the evidence points to a different direction. Being a Christian is not something someone puts on and takes off at will. It’s accepting things that we as mere mortals cannot comprehend. Faith.... believing in something, even though the world may be against you.

Bottom Line, "How can a Christian, state that abominations, and murder, and false testimony will be found pleasing to God?" Once again, feel free to spout off in anger, but please remember.... I am not the one you as a “Christian”, will have to convince. But then again, IF you are a Liberal Thinker, you are probably convinced that God won’t discover that you are not really what you profess to be.

Oh, very brave to give you first name. How about proving how brave you really are and putting your full name, address and phone number in your post.

Otherwise stop bragging about how brave you are.

You attempt to twist your own wishes into something represented as God's will, when you have no concept of God's true will.

Its shameful, completely shameful, to spout your own will and words, then try to find verses in the Bible that you can use as false evidence that you are repeating God's words.

And once again you refuse to answer the tough questions by attempting to divert the matter at hand into something else entirely.

You are a coward and a deceiver, just like your leader Obama.

I hope you don't expect your excuses to hide your sin from God when you are called to judgement, when he asked "Why did you support the anti-Christ?".

It is exactly people like you who's deception will lead thosands of souls directly to eternal damnation.

I bet Satan is dancing with joy from seeing your posts.

Yeah, you just described GEORGE W. BUSH! Just a few more months to go and we will have survived the Great Deceiver...PRAISE THE LORD!

Ed, this is an informative letter, the sources you mention really are as good as you say. Hopefully folks will check them out.
I know myself I am glued to the TV and will be so glad when it’s all over so I can get back to my life. The thrill is we’re watching history in the making and right now so many Americans are thinking as a majority and we’re breaking old patterns and hate mongering. We’ve had enough hate in this country because of someone’s skin color.
I was one of those dirty, stinky, hippies back in the sixties and I’ve never regretted it, I still have those values.
Resentments and hate take a toll on a person’s soul and makes the devil smile.

It would be nice if we were thinking as a majority and/or breaking old patterns and hate mongering, but it just isn't so.

If anything, the country couldn't be MORE divided than it is now on so many different subjects, not the least of which is the presidential election.

And the reason it is so divided is exactly because of hate mongering and old patterns and ethnic difference.

People INSIST that they support one candidate or the other for almost any reason except "race". But when a poll was taken of exactly which issues were the most important, the people being asked couldn't provide any answers. The truth is that the strongest supporters of each candidate, deep down, if most people want to admit it or not, is based on ethnic prejudice. There are some younger whites who are supporting Obama, but the vast majority of older caucasions are supporting McCain (and I suspect it isn't so much supporing McCain as it is opposing Obama). And almost ALL black people who have been polled are supporting Obama.

For all practical purposes, its a split down ethnic lines, with the exception being hispanic people.

So while I wish you were right, I'm afraid that you are not...its still more of the same old stuff we've had to deal with throughout the history of this country.

Maybe one day people will be wiser and more understanding than today, but that day hasn't come yet, and being realistic I don't expect to see it in my lifetime.

And for the record, I don't like either candidate very much.

I am supporting McCain and Opposing Obama , and yes, Mr. Gilmor, I would rather pay more for my children's health care than cast a vote for abortion- it IS that BIG of an issue for me.

Why do I care if bush's tax cuts are eliminated? 1) I was never employed by a poor person 2) Google "democrats 401(k)" I have a retirement fund and when my employer no longer receives the tax deferral deduction he gets he will no longer have an incentive to match my contribution- how many middle class americans have 401(k)?? chew on that.

When all of a sudden

They had come for my wallet

He screamed at the pairs!

They took off for his cause

And as he flew out of sight

I heard him laugh at the nation

Who wouldn't stand up and fight!

So I leave you to think

On this one final note-

IF YOU DONT WANT SOCIALISM

GET OUT AND VOTE!!!!
