Let me be frank. I did not vote for you, but you are to be my President. And with that said, I will pray for you and your family as well as support you when I agree with your policy.
I will say that I am proud to see a person of color be elected to the highest position in our land. I hope you will honor that position and represent all Americans as you have recently stated and not just special interest groups. I do want to see you succeed. I can still remember not less than 25 years ago when the KKK was picketing in our Danielsville town square during a high school graduation. This was one of the most horrendous memories of my teenage years. I have many close friends, acquaintances, and co-workers of color, and I know they are proud to see you rise to this position.
Please do not make the mistakes of President Clinton and allow your party to direct you down a pathway of a leftist agenda. This country is still very much center-right in its moral roots. The affirming vote for Proposition 8 in California is a glaring beacon in an ultra-liberal state that makes our country’s position crystal clear.
If you support legislation or jurists that support the position you voted for five times in the Illinois Senate in not giving medical care to a child that survives the tortures of abortion, then that is when I would stand firmly against you. Even your party says that life begins at birth, so I would hope both you and they would see it reasonable to save these children. I will both pray for you and exhort you to apply biblical principles and values as you make policy decisions which will impact the families of America and the world.
Mr. President-elect, the Bible exhorts us to pray for “First of all, then, I urge that petitions, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for everyone, for kings and all those who are in authority, so that we may lead a tranquil and quiet life in all godliness and dignity.” (1 Timothy 2:1-2). We will pray for you, your family, and your administration. We will pray that God will grant you godly wisdom in all your decision-making. We pray that “A king’s heart is a water channel in the Lord’s hand: He directs it wherever He chooses.” (Proverbs 21:1).
I hope and pray you are successful in your endeavors as they follow the will of God and the people. If you are successful, then our future and the future of our children will be secure. May God be your guide.
Sincerely,
Eric Jones
