I, like millions of other Americans, watched as he gave his first speech as the President elect. His words brought a tear to my eye. As the camera panned across the crowd, I saw tears in the eyes of many others. Jesse Jackson had a tear in his eye and I am positive that throughout this great nation of ours, there were millions of others with tears in their eyes.
These were not tears of sorrow for this was not a moment to be sad. These are the tears of hope for the future. Barack Obama pointed out that this future is possible only if we, working together, make it happen. He speaks from his heart and we hear him, not that what he says is new, but because what he says is how we all feel inside. Together these tears of hope can become a flood that can wash away the divisions that separate us. Once these divisions are washed away, there is nothing we cannot accomplish. This could truly be the beginning of a new day but only if we, working together, make it happen!
Sincerely,
