Three Colbert men were arrested last week after items valued at more than $1,300 were allegedly taken from a car parked on Alberta Drive.
Tyrus Letron Allen, 25, P.O. Box 158, Sylvester Obrian Shiflet, 19, 15 Reed Drive, and Quincy Lee Daniels, 21, 260 Alberta Drive, were all charged with one count of theft by receiving stolen property. Daniels was also charged with a probation violation.
According to the incident report, a woman reported that she parked her car at a residence and then went inside when she and her sister spotted several men “bunching up” around the left side of the vehicle. She went outside and they left, but a glass panel was knocked out and 14 pair of Nike shoes, a white fur lined wool coat and wallet containing $210 were all missing from the vehicle.
Most of the items were located and returned to the owner, except for the wallet, cash and five pair of the shoes. While on the way to the jail, deputy Gary Floyd noted that Shiflet asked “who ended up with the nice white coat.”
In another incident, a Colbert teen was arrested on family violence charges after she allegedly struck her father in the head with a phone.
Magdalena Esteno Watson, 17, 19 Circle D Drive, was charged with one count of battery FVA.
According to the incident report, the father told deputy Jeff Strickland that his daughter and her had been arguing when she started “swinging at him.” He reportedly grabbed her arm to keep her from hitting him, when she grabbed a phone with her other hand and struck him across the head. Deputy Strickland observed a large swollen knot on the man’s head and a small laceration on his left forearm.
