A Colbert woman was arrested last week during an argument with her boyfriend because he reportedly ate at a Hooters Restaurant.
Hope Melissa Abercrombie, 37, 45 Brush Creek Road, was charged with one count each of simple assault, battery and cruelty to children.
According to the incident report, Abercrombie’s juvenile daughter called 911 saying that her mother was hitting her boyfriend.
When Deputy Jason Ring arrived, he could see and hear Abercrombie yelling at her boyfriend inside the residence. When the daughter opened the door for Deputy Ring, he noticed food and liquid in the hallway all over the floor. Abercrombie was very irate, according to the report, and refused to stop “yelling and cussing,” so Ring handcuffed her and placed her in his patrol car.
Her boyfriend then told Ring the argument was about his meal at Hooters and that Abercrombie had “hit him all over.” The daughter told Deputy Ring she heard the pair arguing in their bedroom and had tried to get them to stop, when her mother allegedly grabbed her by the hair and tried to strike her as well.
After being transported to the jail, Deputy Ring reported that Abercrombie was still irate, so she was placed in “the wrap” to calm her down and to keep her from hurting herself and others.
In another incident, Michael Richard Firster, 41, 1589 Young Harris Road, Danielsville, was charged with one count of simple battery last week after he allegedly pushed and choked his wife in front of their 6-year old child. Deputy Michael Moore noted that he saw marks on the woman’s neck.
