In the 21st century, religious wars have become just as big a threat to the survival of the human race as global warming and the energy crisis.
When new technology is found, those problems can easily be solved. Whereas changing people to have respect and tolerance of each other’s religious views will be no easy matter, given the centuries of conflict between the world’s religions.
The world has three areas that religion can lead to conflict. The first is the fanatical groups of Islam, the second between Judaism and Islam and the third between Islam and Hinduism.
The fanatical groups of Islam have grown to be a threat to world peace. They attacked the United States. They are now fighting for control of a nuclear armed Pakistan. They have attacked fellow Muslims.
As Iran moved to become a nuclear power, the threat made by president Ahmadinejad to destroy Israel could lead to a new war in the Middle East.
Even if Pakistan doesn’t become a radical Islamic state. The age old hated between Hindu and Muslim is more dangerous now than ever before.
With Pakistan and India both armed with nuclear weapons, during these times America must stand firm against religious fanaticism and take the fight to them. Also, at the same time America can show the world how to overcome this problem by our own religious freedom and tolerance for the various religions we have here in our own country.
The world can also see that the Untied States is now moving past our racist past to becoming the nation that our founding fathers wanted, with the election of Barack Obama as our first African American president.
So what is the answer to religious hatred? The answer can be found in the world religions themselves. For all their various beliefs one theme runs through them all: that of doing right to each other and the concepts of good and evil. So if people will see that in other religions. The human race will find the respect and tolerance to put an end to religious hatred.
Sincerely,
