A Hull woman was arrested early Monday morning, Nov. 24, after allegedly assaulting her 16-year old foster daughter in the presence of her autistic 15-year old daughter.
Dorothy Marie Beatty, 51, 392 Belhaven Lane, Hull, was charged with one count of battery and two counts of cruelty to children.
According to the incident report, Beatty called 911 to report her foster daughter as a runaway. Deputy Donald Carr found the girl walking in the neighborhood, crying and with a freshly swollen eye. According to the girl, an argument began between the girl and her foster mother late Sunday evening after the girl refused to clean the dining room when she came home from a friend’s house, going to bed instead. Beatty reportedly pulled the covers off her, dragging her out of bed. She then reportedly pushed and shoved the child until she fell and then struck her in the eye with her closed fist and “bounced on her belly” with her knees saying “Look, it’s like riding a trampoline.”
The girl also showed Deputy Carr a large clump of hair in the front yard and said that Beatty had held her down on the ground while cutting her hair “because she was mad.” She also told him that she had bit Beatty on her thigh during this altercation.
Beatty’s daughter gave a corroborating statement, according to the deputy.
Both girls were turned over to Madison County DFACS and Beatty was transported to the Madison County Jail.
