In our area, when citizens show up for public meetings of local officials and speak, they are listened to. Suddenly the body that sits in the Elbert County Commission’s chairs has gone deaf and dumb as a row of fence posts.

Hello neighbors,
I’ve lived in Comer with my family for over 20 years. I plan on retiring here and hope my son will have his family here. During the past 20 years we often enjoyed shopping, eating, and recreating in Elberton and Elbert County.

The Broad River Watershed Association would like to request that the Elbert County Board of Commissioners not approve the proposal by GreenFirst, LLC, to build a waste incinerator and landfill in Elbert County unless and until the board can be certain that an incineration facility will not endanger human health and natural resources of our region.
