I recently participated in a neighborhood fund-raiser for Barack Obama that included a cake walk, a bake sale and a chicken show. The citizens who attended our celebration were not agents of Satan, Communists, abortionists, or left-wing radicals.

Dear Editor:

As for Obama, first of all, his changes include dropping the Bush tax cuts and raising three times as much and passing universal healthcare. This insurance is what other countries have and the reason they come here for healthcare. It’s no good! You have to wait for six to nine months to get into a doctor’s office for surgery and by then, you could be dead. I am not a child that has to have the government hold my hand and make decisions for me. I can make my own!

Dear Editor:

Powerful Washington special interests came close to privatizing Social Security in 2005 with the help of President George W. Bush and Senator McCain. Their approach would have resulted in profits of billions for those special interests. Those profits would come out of the pockets of every day Americans who would see their benefits cut and who would have to work to meet a higher retirement age before becoming eligible for Social Security. Barack Obama will not give them a second chance.

Dear Editor:
In response to the letter about howlers, (“Obama has no business being president,” by Joanne White, Sept. 4, The Madison County Journal,) I must concede the analogy was good. The writer said, if you take your dogs through the car wash, all they’ll see are brushes and water. Similarly, if you lock yourself in a room with Bill O’Reilly and Fox News, all you’ll see are anecdotes and innuendo, the most insidious form of slander.
