Madison County property owners might get their assessment notices in the mail sometime next week. And the county digest — or overall county property value — will be fairly close to last year’s figure, rather than a $30 million decrease as originally expected.

The county tax assessor board (BOA) voted 3–1 Monday to ask the board of commissioners to “return complete control” of the chief appraiser and staff to the BOA by Jan. 1, 2009.
