1) In March MOAS took in a total of 150 dogs and cats. There were also 35 returned from foster homes, not counted in this total. There were 66 adoptions, 41 transferred to rescues and 16 reclaimed by the owners for a total of 123 pets finding permanent homes or safe temporary homes. There were also 45 pets going out to foster homes (not counted in the total out safe).
2) Emmerson’s Hot Chocolate Stand turned out to be one of my favorites. In spite of predictions of rain, the weather was beautiful, there were hot drinks and snacks for all, lots of crafts for sale, and best of all lots of friends and MOAS supporters to visit with. Not to mention raising $800 for the shelter. Thank you, Emmerson and Christy!
3) This year’s Bark and Wine is May 18 and Smithonia Farm will be beautiful! For all information and tickets go to the website www.moaspets.com.
4) This month’s story is about Jake. Jake was brought to the shelter after being hit by a car. His front right leg was injured and eventually required amputation. Through all of his post op, and recovery, he has been showered with love and attention, and has taken Phoebe’s place as our welcome pup now that Phoebe found a home (see January Highlights). Lovable, adorable and happily getting around now, he is ready for an adopting family. Many thanks to our surgeons and amazing staff once again for giving Jake a loving place to adjust to his new circumstances so he can venture out again.
And many thanks to all of you for making good outcomes possible here at MOAS!
